"Islam has been built on five [pillars]: testifying that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammed is the messenger of Allah, performing the prayers, paying the zakat, making the pilgrimage to the House, and fasting in Ramadan."
The Shahada is the Arabic word for the declaration of faith in one God (Allah) and His final messenger Muhammed ﷺ.
By making this declaration you are renewing your bond with your Creator and submitting the purpose of your life to the One and only God.
A single sincere recitation of the Shahadah is all that is required for a person to become a Muslim. Whilst this is a simple act, there is a very deep meaning behind it.
Islam is a complete way of life, aimed at reforming and improving ones character and habits. A muslim is one who submits to God.
As the Quranic verse states “there is no compulsion in the faith” (2:256) and conversion to Islam is something that comes sincerely from the heart and is a personal choice.
