How your donation helps

Here are some of the many ways your donation helps Muallif support new Muslims in our community:

1

Meaningful welcome

Shahadah certification and bespoke gift packs containing resources to help newcomers confidently start their journey as Muslim. Each pack costs £70.

2

Financial & threaputic

Research demonstrates that converts to Islam can experience a range of psychological, social, and financial difficulties as a consequence of embracing Islam. Your zakat and sadaqah can help relieve these difficulties.

3

Islamic literacy

We will be offering regular essential classes to help newcomers understand, embrace, and realise a sustainable practice of Islam.

4

Social support

Our popular monthly socials offer a family-friendly opportunity for converts to form a strong community connection. The events are designed to welcome children and non-Muslim relatives with an interest in the faith.

5

Education & Training

We work with an interdisciplinary team to offer outreach and education to the wider Muslim community, to educate, and train them on how to better support the convert population. We also offer education outreach institutions and any member of the public with an active interest in Islam.

TYPES OF GIVING

Charity in Islam

There are two types of charity in Islam, these are known as Zakat and Sadaqah.

  • Zakat is one of fundamental concepts in Islam, it is a compulsory act which purifies one’s wealth. And it is an act all Muslims must perform (provided they meet certain conditions). It means that they pay 2.5% of their total yearly savings to the poor and needy and for the welfare of the Muslim community. Zakat is calculated based on total savings during one lunar year. Even items like gold and jewellery fall under Zakat-able items and their worth is taken into account during the calculations.
  • Sadaqa is way of giving charity that is purely voluntary and done for the sake of Allah. It can be given at any time through the year, to anyone and it can be of any amount (it can also be in the form of a material object). Anyone can receive Sadaqa however, the idea is to give it where it is most needed.
